Reasons Why You've Been Continuously Feeling Lazy

It’s high time we stop normalising oversleeping, procrastinating and having unproductive days under the pretext of just needing rest. While it's okay to catch your breath once in a while due to the hard work that you may be doing, merely resting after you've been doing nothing all day is not a good sign for your health. If you have been battling laziness and want to let it go and change for the better, then this is one article you don't want to miss. Here are reasons why you may have been experiencing continuous laziness.

Alcohol Use

While alcohol can feel like it quenches a certain quench that no other drink can, you should drink it at the risk of knowing that you may become unmotivated if you drink it continuously. It's okay to drink one or two glasses once in a while to unwind; however, if you find yourself drinking it every day and getting drunk every day, it will definitely result in you being a lazy person. So, if you have been abusing alcohol recently and are now puzzled as to why you seem to have become a slob, the answer is in your refrigerator. If you are not very careful, you may even become depressed due to continuous alcohol intake, making you an even lazier individual.

Stress

We all experience stress at some point in our lives but not everyone recognizes how deeply it can impact our daily lives. When you are stressed, your body will match this by becoming lazy and sluggish. The same way you feel when you do too much activity is the same way your brain will feel if it has been overworking, the result being feelings of tiredness that when mixed with lack of motivation, become laziness. You, therefore, need to look for ways to cope with this stress if you want to regain your energy and break the cycle of laziness.

Excessive Intake of Caffeinated Drinks

While caffeine may be a good start to your day as it gives you the boost that you need to face your day, if you drink too much of it, it will affect you gravely. Too much caffeine will cause a shot in your energy levels and this spike will be the high that will help you stay up late on some nights to study and wake up early the next morning as well. However, your body will register that you owe it rest and when you finally burn out from this high, you will be left even more tired than you initially were. Instead of reaching out for another cup of coffee during the day,  consider herbal tea as it is also a good energy source that, unlike coffee, won't leave you sluggish.

Lack of Exercise

Have you ever wondered why athletes and other physically engaging sportsmen never seem to run out of energy? Well, it may be because moving your body does boost your energy levels. It keeps you happy (due to the release of endorphins) and instead of feeling demotivated like you would without any physical activity, you will become a more motivated individual.  When you, therefore, rob yourself of the physical activity that your body needs, chances are that you will feel sluggish all the time. If you, therefore, want to regain your energy, get ready to be more physically active.

Pregnancy

If you are usually high on energy and are usually very hard-working, then you suddenly become very lazy; you may want to trace when you last your period. Laziness is one of the symptoms of pregnancy as it is a result of hormonal changes and the physical demands of growing a tiny human inside of you. It is, therefore, important that you look into your pregnancy status if you are a female, as laziness, in the end, can be a result of you being pregnant.

Underlying Medical Conditions

Sometimes, persistent laziness can be a symptom of underlying medical conditions. Conditions like hypothyroidism, diabetes, or chronic fatigue syndrome can leave you feeling drained and unmotivated. If you’ve, therefore, been feeling unusually tired for long periods, it might be worth visiting a healthcare professional who can then help you to identify any potential issues and help you re-embrace your health. If you, therefore, find that all the things you've been trying to do in order to address laziness are not working, consider seeing a healthcare practitioner.

Dehydration

It is more important than you know to stay hydrated as being dehydrated will cause you to become glazier.  Many people don’t drink enough water throughout the day, and dehydration can lead to fatigue and decreased focus. If you, therefore, find yourself feeling more lazy during your day, consider drinking loads of water. You might be shocked at how much your energy levels will get up again.

Depression

If you have looked into everything that causes laziness and none of the things on the list resonated with you, it may be important that you look into depression as it is a serious condition that can ultimately lead to a lack of motivation and extreme laziness. If you have recently gone through something traumatic and disturbing, then noticed that you have become lazy and have lost all motivation in life after this, you are probably depressed. This is something you should treat with urgency life-threatening. Therefore, don't shy away from seeking professional help as this will aid you in getting the support you need to navigate the situation and come out strong. Your mental health is important and you should not shy away, in any manner, from taking care of it.
