Foods You Are Eating That Are Slowly Killing You

The phrase you are what you eat should make a lot of people rethink their eating habits quickly. We carelessly shove food in our mouths every day without a thought or consideration to what these foods are doing to our bodies. Food does not come in and out the way we lie to ourselves that it does. Some food seems completely harmless, but years from now, you will see the hazards it causes to your body. We are here to expose these products so you can start making better food choices today. Here are seven foods you are eating that are harming you.

Deli Meats

That ham and polony sandwich you are packing for your lunch box could be the death of you!  The crazy amounts of sodium, additives, and preservatives in your sandwich meat will have you rethinking your trip to the deli. Cold cuts and cured meats are high in sodium, and this could spike diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, and cancer. To add on to the damage, deli meats are saturated in fat and increase the level of cholesterol in your body. If you are going to choose to ignore this advice, at least cut the amount of deli meat you eat to one serving a week. From this point on, maybe you can slowly phase it out completely and add some years back. The next item is for all the soda lovers!

Fizzy Drinks

The fizzy is doing a lot more damage to your body than you think. Carbonated drinks or sodas are playing hard with your blood sugar levels, and you need to pay attention! Sodas are packed with sugar, food dyes, and preservatives that are doing you no favors. If you care about your hormones and your skin, cut these drinks out so you can be free from acne breakouts, bloating, and mood swings. If you care about your dental health too, you might want to know that the acid from sodas damages the enamel of your tooth. If you are craving the sweetness, swap out sodas for natural juices that will quench your craving and deliver some healthy nutrients and vitamins.

Margarine

The slice of bread slathered in marg is going to fill you up, but you will need to rethink continuing eating like that. Fat is not all that bad, but highly processed fat? Now that’s a poor choice. Processed fats double your risk of bad cholesterol, stroke, and heart disease. These bricks of butter are creamy and yummy, but when they make their way into your arteries, they are doing a lot of blocking. Make the difficult decision to choose healthier options for your sandwiches, like avocado and cheese! Extra virgin oil is also a better alternative, but just a drizzle is enough for you. This next one is everyone’s favorite, but you need to hear this!

French Fries

Fatty, Crispy, Salty. These are the words that describe the perfect French fry.  We are sorry to be the bearers of bad news, but french fries are some of the most unhealthy fast food around. What you are choosing to ignore is that these chips are drowned in high amounts of processed fats before they are placed on your plate. This quick little snack is increasing your risk of heart disease, bad cholesterol, and potentially stroke. There are healthier ways to get what you are looking for. Rather, opt to roast your potatoes with a drip of olive oil for that crispy potato feel. If you are an air fryer warrior, pop them in there and enjoy some fried goodness. The next food on the list is for the carnivores!

Red Meat

All the steak lovers reading this article are about to experience heartbreak. Your beef, lamb, and ham contain a harmful protein called haem which increases your risk for colon cancer. Red meat is high in saturated fat and cholesterol, so your burger meat is packing up in your arteries. This increases the chances of heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Research has also shown that this meat contains certain hormones that are messing with people’s bodies as well. Now, we are not going to ask you to cut out red meat completely because we know you won’t!  Consider eating lean cuts of meat and stewing it instead of grilling and frying.

White Bread

Your bread and butter are your livelihood, but when we take this conversation literally, they are taking your life. White bread is a highly processed carbohydrate, which means that all the good fibers and vitamins have been stripped from the food. What remains is loads of calories that go to all the wrong places and spike your blood sugar. To add more damage,  white bread increases the risk of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The final blow is the damage to your gut due to its high gluten content.

Oreo Cookies

We are ending this list with something that people do not want to see here. Oreos are a crowd favorite, but there are many problems with them. First off, the cream filling contains trans fat that increases the chances of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and gut health issues. The sugars packed in the biscuit itself are also coming for your blood sugar levels.  This makes this tiny biscuit a double threat that you should be leaving in the supermarket.
